SCIMITAR SALMON/STEELHEAD FLOAT
Single-model 12'6 slow-action float rod for light steelhead float gear with braid-compatible guides
The Scimitar Salmon/Steelhead Float series is a single-model 12-foot-6-inch spinning rod in slow action, light power, designed for float fishing for steelhead and salmon with light terminal gear. The rod is 2-piece with a cork grip, Titanium Oxide guides rated for braided line, and an extended 6-inch foregrip that aids in two-handed float casting and mending. The slow action loads through the full blank for smooth presentation of light shot and float combinations.
The model is rated for 4-8 lb line and 1/32-5/16 oz, consistent with standard steelhead float gear using small jigs or roe under a float on low-to-medium flow. At 12.5 feet it provides sufficient reach for controlled mends on larger runs without sacrificing tip sensitivity. The $59.99 price point positions it at the accessible end of float rod options in the Shimano salmon/steelhead lineup.
This model sits below the Compre Float 12-6 L at the same length specification but uses Titanium Oxide guides in place of SeaGuide Zirconia, and differs in grip dimensions.
Shaded band: the spread of the lineup's 1 model, as percentile rank among same-type rods. Solid line = series median · dashed ring = catalog median.
