The Sojourn Muskie Casting series is an entry-level to mid-range lineup covering the full spectrum of muskie fishing methods from casting to trolling. The updated guide train features double-footed guides and a wire frame tip-top for increased durability over prolonged use with heavy lines and big lures. All casting models at 8 feet and above are telescopic for ease of transport. Power options span Medium Heavy through Extra Extra Heavy, accommodating light search baits up to large rubber and live-bait presentations rated to 16 ounces.
Two dedicated trolling models, SJCMTR80HTC and SJCMTR90HTC, use moderate-action blanks and all-EVA handles suited to absorbing the constant load of pulling baits behind a moving boat. The 9-foot trolling model adds wire frame guides for additional durability under sustained trolling stress. Casting models use Cork and EVA composite handles; trolling models go all-EVA. Guide material is Titanium Oxide across the series.
The lineup spans seven distinct power-and-length combinations, priced from $54.99 to $79.99. The 7-foot Medium Heavy at the lower end handles lighter presentation-style lures, while the 8'6" XXH tops out the casting side with a 6-16 oz rating for the heaviest bucktails and large rubber baits. 7-foot Medium Heavy fast-action, rated 1/2-2 oz. The lightest model in the lineup, suited for lighter muskie lures and figure-eight presentations in tighter quarters. Cork and EVA handle, 13-inch grip. Good starting point for anglers new to dedicated muskie gear.
7-foot Heavy fast-action rated 1-3 oz. Steps up from the MH model with added backbone for more aggressive hooksets. Same 7-foot length works well on smaller bodies of water and for precise casting around shoreline structure. Cork and EVA, 13-inch grip.
7'6" Medium Heavy fast-action rated 1-4 oz. Added length over the 7-foot MH improves casting distance while the Medium Heavy power keeps the rod manageable with a wide range of lure sizes. Longer 16-inch grip enables two-handed casting. Cork and EVA.
8-foot telescopic Extra Heavy fast-action rated 6-12 oz. Built for large rubber baits, big hardbaits, and heavy bucktails. The Extra Heavy power provides reserve authority for fighting fish on heavier fluorocarbon or wire leaders. 18-inch Cork and EVA grip.
8-foot telescopic Heavy fast-action rated 3-8 oz. Steps into standard muskie bait territory and folds down for easier transport. Cork and EVA 18-inch grip. Covers mid-range bucktails, large inline spinners, and smaller glide baits effectively.
8-foot telescopic moderate-action trolling model rated 1-8 oz. All-EVA handle absorbs the constant load of trolling without fatigue. The moderate action loads progressively, keeping baits tracking true. Wire guides on a shorter chassis suit inside-rod trolling setups.
8'6" telescopic Extra Extra Heavy fast-action rated 6-16 oz. The heaviest casting model in the series, built for the largest rubber baits and double-bladed bucktails. The XXH power rating makes this the top choice when targeting trophy fish in open water. 19-inch grip.
9-foot telescopic moderate-action trolling model rated 1-8 oz. Extra foot of length increases bait spread for multi-rod trolling presentations. Wire frame guides throughout add durability. All-EVA 15-inch grip handles extended trolling sessions on open lakes.
