TALAVERA TYPE SLOW J CASTING A
2026 A-generation 6'6" slow-pitch jigging casting rods, ML to MH, jigs to 300 g, Fuji O guides
The Talavera Type Slow J Casting A is the 2026 A generation of Shimano North America's Talavera Type Slow J casting rods for slow-pitch jigging: three one-piece 6'6" models with Moderate Fast action in Medium Light, Medium and Medium Heavy power. Shimano describes the blank as solid carbon with a parabolic action (the spec table lists graphite), with DIAFLASH carbon tape reinforcing the lower blank. Guides are Fuji O, the reel seat is updated, and the EVA grips have a 2.5" foregrip and a 16" printed grip length.
Shimano prints maximum ratings only: PowerPro braid to 30, 40 and 50 lb and jigs to 200, 250 and 300 g for the ML, M and MH respectively. All three list at $109.99.
The three powers, length and action match the previous unsuffixed Type Slow J Casting. The guides change from SeaGuide Zirconia to Fuji O, the foregrip goes from 2" to 2.5" and the printed grip length from 16.3" to 16", DIAFLASH is new, and the list price drops from $119.99 to $109.99. Shimano lists the series for slow jigging for bottom species and pelagics.
Shaded band: the spread of the lineup's 3 models, as percentile rank among same-type rods. Solid line = series median · dashed ring = catalog median.
