TECHNIUM CASTING B
Two-piece baitcast rods for river salmon and steelhead casting applications
The Technium Casting B is built on a blank that combines TC4 glass and graphite carbon, a construction method Shimano uses across the Technium line to balance sensitivity with resistance to breakage under hard casts or fish pressure. The blank rolls out with a high strength-to-weight ratio, keeping swing weight manageable across a day of repeated casting on the river. Guide trains are Fuji O-ring frames throughout, and handles are AAA cork with a 14-inch rear grip and a short foregrip that ranges from 3.5 to 4.5 inches depending on model.
The casting lineup covers two distinct length and action pairings. The 9-foot models use a Fast action and are optimized for tighter, more direct presentations - carrying 8–12 lb mono on the Medium and 8–17 lb on the Medium Heavy. The 10'6" models shift to a Moderate Fast taper, which slows the recovery enough to load at range and work larger lures up to 2 ounces on the Medium Heavy variant.
All five models break into two pieces and share the baitcasting reel seat configuration common to the Technium B generation. The 9'6" Medium Heavy fills the gap between the two 9-foot and 10'6" lengths, offering the same Fast action as the 9-foot rods with marginally extended reach for anglers working mid-sized water from the bank.

9' Medium Heavy with Fast action. Rated 8–17 lb mono and 3/8–1 oz lures. Same length and action as the TNC90M2B but with increased backbone, allowing the angler to apply more pressure on larger fish without switching to the longer 10'6" model.
9'6" Medium Heavy with Fast action. Rated 8–17 lb mono and 3/8–1 oz lures. Bridges the 9' and 10'6" lengths in the same Medium Heavy/Fast configuration, providing a modest reach advantage over the 9-foot version for wading anglers on medium-width rivers.
10'6" Medium power with Moderate Fast action. Rated 12–20 lb mono and 3/4–1 1/2 oz lures. The longer length and softer taper suit longer casts from open banks; the Medium power keeps the rod responsive to lighter salmon presentations at range.
10'6" Medium Heavy with Moderate Fast action. Steps up to 12–25 lb mono and 3/4–2 oz lures, adding a 1-inch foregrip over the Medium model. Handles larger plugs and heavier terminal rigs on bigger water while retaining the same extended reach.
