The Terez BW Conventional Slick Butt series covers the widest range of offshore conventional fishing in the Terez BW family, spanning six models across 6'6" and 7'0" lengths. Blanks use Hi-Power X, Spiral X, and UD Glass construction with Fuji SiC guides and Fuji DPS-H reel seats. The slick butt configuration mounts directly into a rod holder gimbal without a separate butt section, providing a lower-profile setup that many tournament anglers prefer for stand-up and chair fishing.
Power ratings run from Medium through Extra Heavy, and Fast action is uniform across all six models. Line classes cover 16-20 lb on the lightest model up to 50-80 lb on the XH, with PowerPro braid ratings reaching 65-100 lb. The 6'6" models top out at Heavy power while the 7'0" lineup extends to Extra Heavy for the heaviest offshore applications.
This series functions as the primary trolling and live-bait conventional lineup in the Terez BW collection, suited for mahi, wahoo, tuna, and billfish in rod-holder and fighting-chair applications. The slick butt allows the angler to work the rod out of the holder and back in during a fight without interference from a fixed uni-butt pin.
Deeper Dive
A closer look at notable models.
At 6'6" with Heavy power and 30-50 lb line class, this model steps up for larger trolling lures and heavier mono rigs. Suited for sailfish and smaller tuna, it retains the shorter blank length that works well in rod holder positions when multiple lines are deployed.
The 6'6" Medium Heavy handles 20-30 lb mono or 30-65 lb PowerPro braid. Fast action and the shorter length suit kite fishing and slow-trolling live baits in moderate conditions, and the slick butt drops cleanly into a rod holder gimbal for hands-free trolling in a spread.
Heavy power at 7'0" handles 30-50 lb mono or 50-80 lb braid. The longer blank provides additional bait spread in a multi-rod setup and the 30-50 lb class covers the range most commonly used for yellowfin tuna and larger mahi on offshore grounds.
At 7'0" and Medium Heavy power, this model covers 20-30 lb mono or 30-65 lb braid and serves as the all-around utility trolling rod in the 7-foot slick butt lineup. Suitable for mixed offshore spreads targeting mahi, wahoo, and small tuna from a rod holder.
The 7'0" Medium is the lightest option in this series at 16-20 lb mono or 20-50 lb braid. Fast action and the 7-foot length provide a long lever for live bait and kite presentations targeting sailfish in lighter tackle categories.
The Extra Heavy 7'0" model is rated for 50-80 lb mono or 65-100 lb PowerPro braid, placing it at the top of the conventional slick butt lineup for heavy trolling of large lures and rigged baits for blue marlin and large yellowfin tuna.
