The Trevala Spinning B is a redesigned entry in Shimano's long-running Trevala crossover jigging series. TC4 blank construction forms the foundation across all seven models, delivering the rigidity needed for vertical jigging while maintaining the versatility to handle lure casting and live-bait presentations. All blanks carry a moderate-fast action with a 5.3-inch foregrip and 12-inch EVA rear grip, and SeaGuide Aluminum Oxide guides are used throughout the lineup.

A rubber gimbal at the butt end serves two functions: it seats into rod holders during transits to the fishing grounds and interfaces with a fighting belt during extended battles. Shimano cites reduced overall weight and a revised guide train as refinements over the previous generation, with the balance point shifted to reduce arm fatigue during repetitive jigging strokes.

Seven models span 5'8" to 7'0" in lengths, with power ratings from Light through Extra-Extra Heavy. The shorter, heavier models (XH, XXH at 5'8") are built around deep-drop and heavy-iron applications, while the longer light-to-medium models (L, ML at 7'0") work well for inshore jigging and lighter saltwater species. MSRP is $219.99 across all models.

Deeper Dive

A closer look at notable models.

TVS58XHB Spinning · 5'8" · XH · MF action

5'8" Extra Heavy, moderate-fast action. The compact length and XH power target heavy metal jigs worked over deep structure or high-current situations where a shorter, stiffer blank gives direct control. Suited to amberjack, large grouper, and similar heavy-tackle species with jigs in the upper weight range.

TVS58XXHB Spinning · 5'8" · XXH · MF action

5'8" Extra-Extra Heavy, moderate-fast action. The stiffest blank in the series, designed for the heaviest jigs and the largest, most powerful fish. At 5'8" it keeps leverage concentrated and reduces the mechanical disadvantage of a long blank when fighting big fish at depth.

TVS60HB Spinning · 6'0" · MF action

6'0" Heavy power, moderate-fast action. A step up in length from the 5'8" heavy models, this rod adds some casting distance while retaining the authority to work heavy jigs. Suitable for mid-depth jigging applications where a slight increase in lever length aids in lifting fish from structure.

TVS66MB Spinning · 6'6" · M · MF action

6'6" Medium power, moderate-fast action. The mid-length, mid-power option in the series suits moderate-weight jigs and a wide range of mid-size saltwater species. The 6'6" length provides additional tip travel to animate jigs with more authority than a shorter blank at the same power.

TVS66MHB Spinning · 6'6" · MH · MF action

6'6" Medium-Heavy power, moderate-fast action. One step heavier than the 66MB, this model handles larger jigs and provides more backbone for fighting stronger fish at the same 6'6" length. A practical choice when species and jig weight call for something between medium and heavy power.

TVS70LB Spinning · 7'0" · L · MF action

7'0" Light power, moderate-fast action. The longest rod in the series with the lightest power rating. The 7'0" blank provides a wide, sweeping stroke well suited to finesse jigging with lighter metal presentations in shallow to mid-depth water, and handles lighter inshore species effectively.

TVS70MLB Spinning · 7'0" · ML · MF action

7'0" Medium-Light power, moderate-fast action. A step heavier than the 70LB, this model adds versatility for slightly larger jigs while retaining the length advantage for long, sweeping retrieve strokes. Handles a broad range of lighter saltwater species and is a good general-purpose inshore jigging option.
