Flats Class
Saltwater inshore series by Capt. C.A. Richardson and Trevor Fitzgerald for flats fishing.
The Flats Class is a ten-rod inshore saltwater series at $229.99 developed by Capt. C.A. Richardson (a Baffin Bay, TX flats guide) and Trevor Fitzgerald. The series targets speckled trout, redfish, and flounder on shallow-water flats in the Gulf Coast and Southeast inshore environments.
Five casting models span 7'0" to 7'6" in Medium through Heavy power with Fast and Moderate actions; five spinning models run 7'0" to 7'6" in Medium through Heavy with Moderate-Fast and Fast tapers. The FC74MH is the series' only Moderate-action casting model, shaped for suspending jerkbaits and slow-roll presentations on calm flats. The FC76H casting rod (7'6" H Fast, 15-30 lb, 5/8-3 oz) and the two 7'6" spinning models address the heavier live-bait and large-slot redfish end of the inshore spectrum.
Shaded band: the spread of the lineup's 10 models, as percentile rank among same-type rods. Solid line = series median · dashed ring = catalog median.
