XT

The Huerco XT (Expeditionary Tuned) is a JDM multi-piece travel rod series built for anglers who carry rods via backpack, bicycle, or airline carry-on. All models break down to 60–90 cm, with the 5-piece models hitting under 60 cm for low-cost-carrier overhead bin compliance. The blank is designed from scratch as a travel rod using non-uniform (smart) multi-piece segmentation, meaning the splits are placed for structural integrity instead of equal spacing, minimizing joint-feel loss versus standard collapsible rods.

It is explicitly designed for expedition and travel contexts. Blank materials vary by model (fiberglass, graphite, or composite) tuned for their specific technique. Guides use durable stainless-steel frames with SIC rings; heavier-use models run all-double-foot guides. The RF (Regular Fast) action notation is a Huerco-specific taper designation, a slight softening from pure fast that provides better load behavior over multiple joints while retaining tip sensitivity. Components throughout are Japanese-standard quality.

Nine rods: four casting (5'10"–7'10"), five spinning (5'11"–7'11"). Piece counts are 4 or 5 depending on target breakdown length. Power ratings span L through XH. The two 7'11" XH/H spinning models (XT711R-5S-PLUS at H, XT711R-5S at M) and the 7'10" casting (XT710R-5C) are the long-range end; the 5'10"/5'11" models are short-range stream or kayak sticks. An inner and outer casting/spinning split exists at each length tier.
