The Dear Monster Gigas series is Monster Kiss's heavy-duty offshore mobile rod lineup, built for anglers who pursue giant trevally, amberjack, yellowtail kingfish, tuna, and other large pelagic species. Every rod in the series packs down to 50 cm or under (the company's Under Fifty Concept), fitting carry-on luggage for international fishing trips without sacrificing the power needed for serious big-game work. The blanks use carbon construction reinforced with Joint Protect Layering at each section junction and Edge Guide Architecture to strengthen joints at the guide positions, producing a mobile rod engineered from the ground up rather than simply a cut-down conventional blank.

All three models ship with an interchangeable tip (Adaptive Tip System), allowing the angler to swap between a longer, softer tip for heavier slow-action lures and a shorter, stiffer tip for lighter, faster presentations or as a backup in case of breakage. The W Interchangeable System (WICS-D13 and D16) standardizes blank and grip diameters across MGX models, enabling cross-compatibility with Monster Kiss grips and extension parts.

The series spans two spinning rods and one baitcasting rod, covering lure weights from around 70 g up to 2 kg in extreme configurations. The MGX-Infinity-S leads with a torqueful blank tuned for bending into large fish; the MGX-8S uses a higher-modulus blank for crisper lure action and kingfish-focused applications; the MGX-Infinity2 switches to baitcasting for giant-lure work, deep vertical fishing, and situations where long leaders or lures over 250 g are needed.

A closer look at notable models.

MGX-8S Spinning · 8'3" · XH · RF action

The second MGX spinning rod uses a higher-modulus blank than the Infinity-S, giving it more stiffness and a crisper response suited to lighter lures in the 70-100 g range. This translates to better casting distance and sharper lure action, making the rod a strong match for yellowtail kingfish (hiramasa) where speed and precision matter. Max lure weight is 200 g. Same 6-piece, 50 cm packed format as the rest of the series; the short tip swap shifts the rod to a stiffer 7'10" setup.

MGX-Infinity-S Spinning · 8'3" · XXH · R action

The first rod in the MGX Gigas lineup, the Infinity-S pairs a torque-focused blank with the spinning format to chase giant trevally and similar heavy opponents. The included short tip converts it from an 8'3" standard setup to a 7'10" stiffer configuration, improving control of large, water-resistant lures. Lure capacity tops out around 300 g, and the power rating sits beyond the conventional extra-heavy classification. Packs to 50 cm in 6 pieces.

MGX-Infinity2 Casting · 8'6" · XH · RF action

The only baitcasting rod in the Gigas series and the most versatile, the Infinity2 ships with two configurations: a standard 8'6" extra-heavy setup for lures up to 300 g and a shorter, ultra-stiff 6'10" belly-swap mode rated for giant lures up to 2 kg. An included extension butt (MGX-PROGRESS42G, 87 g) extends the rod to 9'11" for high-platform fishing or to 8'2" in short mode. Suited to giant trevally, tuna, large amberjack, shark casting, and deep vertical jigging with electric reels.
