IRON CAT
Carbon-glass light jigging pair, 6'3" spinning and 6'2" bait, for 30 to 200 g jigs
IRON CAT is a two-model light jigging series positioned below IRONFLICK, built in carbon and glass and offered as the 6'3" spinning ICNB-6315 and the 6'2" bait ICNB-6210B. The spinning model is described as an all-round light jigging rod with a flexible blank that lets the angler drop one line class when pressured fish stop biting, with a taper sharp enough to work a high-gear reel against pelagics feeding on small sand lance near the bottom.
The bait model handles 30 to 100 g jigs in a conventional light jigging style and 90 to 200 g in slow-pitch jerk, and the brand credits its lifting power to the design principle of Taper & Shape, the Japanese rod maker founded in 2005 by designer Yasuo Shimazu, that a rod works by bending: instead of ultra-high-modulus material, the blank uses a steep taper from the butt to the grip end so the rod's own recovery lifts the fish. Whether Taper & Shape built the blank is not stated. Targets are seabass, tachiuo, madai, sakuramasu and mid-size pelagics. Store prices are 54,450 yen for the spinning and 52,800 yen for the bait model including tax. Both listings are currently unavailable and the series does not appear in the official rod menu, so it is a legacy line.
