IRONWILL

IRONWILL is the brand's heavy jigging series, designed under the full supervision of Hachijojima angler Papa Otsuru and named for the resolve to land every fish hooked. All models are power-oriented but built on T24 graphite with unified elasticity so the blank bends progressively into the butt under load rather than locking up, which the brand says lets a jig swim naturally without dropping to lighter line.

Four Power Flap models cover the heavy end: the 5'9" spinning 595W+PF and 5'8" bait 585BW+PF (power 5+, PE5 to PE8, jigs 310 to 500 g, 10 kg drag), the 5'3" spinning 536WPF (power 6, 13 kg drag, jigs over 600 g, 81 percent carbon and 19 percent glass, 248 g, closed length 96.7 cm, made in Japan) and the 5'2" bait 527BWPF (power 7, 15 kg drag, jigs to over 800 g). The Slow Flap 634BWSF is a 6'3" four-power bait rod for long-fall jerks on tuna, rated for 200 to 350 g jigs on PE3 to PE5 with a 7 kg drag rating. Guides are titanium-frame SiC throughout: double-foot T-KWSG-SiC on the Power Flap rods with a T-KGST top and size 30 butt guide, and lighter T-KLSG-SiC-S tip guides on the Slow Flap. All are two-piece butt-joint builds that pack under 1.2 m for travel; test waters include the Ogasawara and Izu Islands, Hachijojima and Papua New Guinea. Targets are kanpachi, large rockfish and tuna. List prices run 67,200 to 72,500 yen before tax.
