IRONTOMAHAWK
Japan-built offshore casting rods, 7'8" to 8'6", power 5 to 10, for yellowtail, tuna and GT
IRONTOMAHAWK is the brand's offshore casting series, introduced in April 2024 after field testing around the Izu Islands and Aomori, the Boso Peninsula, Genkai-nada, Sado, Sakata, Hokkaido, the Oki Islands, Tango and the Goto Islands. The rods are made in Japan to the brand's Ocean Guide T2 guide specification and split into high-modulus S models and low-modulus M models.
The 8'2" 825S (power 5, PE4 to PE6, 30 to 70 g) is a fast-taper underhand and side-cast rod with a titanium tip guide for light plugs and sinking lures on buri, katsuo and kihada; the 8'4" 846S (power 6, PE5 to PE8, 50 to 100 g) and 8'6" 868S (power 8, PE6 to PE10, 80 to 200 g, 378 g) are 93 percent carbon blanks that bend to the grip for long casts at hiramasa and tuna. The 8'0" 809M (power 9, PE8 to PE10, 80 to 180 g) uses a low-modulus blank with large-diameter guides that pass 200 lb PR knots and matches 18000 to 20000 size reels for 50 to 100 kg bluefin and 24 cm plugs, and the 7'8" 7810M (power 10, PE8 to PE12, 100 to 230 g) raises the glass content to 14 percent for low-position fights. Seven models were planned and five are listed; the 906 and 7111 were still in development at the March 2024 report. List prices run 63,500 to 70,500 yen before tax.
