Surf, rock and drone bait rods, 12 ft to 15 ft 2 in, Toray with Cross Core, mid and low-mount
Backline is the brand's heavy shore family for surf, rock and drone fishing, built on Japanese Toray graphite with Cross Core Carbon technology, with a powerful butt, a lighter tip and an extended foregrip for lifting torque. The Backline Series is a spin rod rated 20 to 40 lb, 30 to 60 lb or 40 to 80 lb, offered in standard mid-mount at 13 ft 2 in and 14 ft 3 in and in low-mount (with cast finger) at 14 ft 3 in and 15 ft 2 in. The Slim Series is a thinner, lighter multi-layer version from 12 ft to 14 ft rated 25 to 35 lb, in mid-mount and low-mount, with Fuji LC and KW guides. The Drone Series is a 13 ft 2 in overhead rod rated 40 to 80 lb for deploying large baits by drone, with a reinforced lower blank, tested in Western Australia and New Zealand on sharks, kingfish and snapper. All models use Fuji DPS reel seats and Fuji stainless K guides. Backline does not appear on the brand's 2023 site; the Drone Spec headlines the 2026 homepage, and BCF stocks the range. Prices run AUD 459.99 to 499.99.
