Raptus
Heavy offshore popping rods, PE8 to PE12, for GT and yellowfin on large cup-faced poppers
Raptus is the heaviest casting rod in the range, built for working large cup-faced poppers and for stopping giant trevally and yellowfin tuna near structure. The brand states the series took three years of testing across multiple blank configurations and guide layouts. The blank is multi-blend Japanese Toray graphite with a double layer of Cross Core Carbon, and the taper stays stiff through to the tip so the rod pops efficiently and sets hooks at range. Three spin models are offered: 7 ft 11 in rated PE8, 7 ft 10 in rated PE10 and 7 ft 9 in rated PE12. Fittings are a Fuji DPS reel seat with the brand's custom locking nut and Fuji KW stainless double-foot guides with SiC rings, chosen for heat dispersion under drag. The listed test locations are the Cocos Keeling Islands, the Montebello Islands, Fiji and Oman. Raptus appears in the brand's 2023 catalogue. At AUD 769.99 to 799.99 it is, with the Aggressor, the most expensive family in the catalogue.
