The St. Croix Black Bass Glass is a bass-focused fiberglass casting series built specifically for moderate-action reaction-bait fishing, crankbaits, squarebills, spinnerbaits, and swimbaits where the rod's natural compression helps keep hooks engaged during the fight. It fits bass anglers who recognize the advantages of glass blanks for treble-hook reaction baits and want a well-appointed American-made rod for those presentations. Both models use St. Croix's LINEAR S-GLASS blank material, which provides the controlled flex and parabolic loading characteristic of fiberglass, with construction details including stainless steel guide rings in aluminum oxide frames, a nylon reel seat with aluminum and stainless hardware, and premium EVA handles with cork rubber accents.

The Integrated Poly Curve (IPC) tooling technology contributes to blank consistency across production runs. Both rods retail in the $170-$175 range and carry a 5-year warranty. The lineup consists of two 1-piece casting rods differentiated by length and power: a 7'2" H moderate (RIC72HM, 12-20lb, 1/2-1 1/4oz) and a 7'4" MH moderate (RIC74MHM, 8-20lb, 3/8-1oz). The heavier RIC72HM is oriented toward larger diving crankbaits and heavier line; the RIC74MHM handles a broader range of reaction baits on lighter line, making it the more versatile option.

RIC72HM Casting · 7'2" · H · M action

Heavy power at 7'2" with a 1/2-1 1/4oz range is optimized for larger and deeper-diving crankbaits on heavier fluorocarbon or monofilament. The stiffer backbone relative to the MH model lets anglers throw bigger balsa or hard-bodied cranks at range while the moderate action still protects hooks on the hookset.
