The St. Croix Legend Tournament Inshore serves competitive inshore anglers fishing redfish, speckled trout, snook, and flounder on the Gulf and Southeast Atlantic coasts. It won Best of Show at ICAST 2017 and sits at the top of St. Croix's inshore rod hierarchy. The intended user is an experienced tournament or dedicated recreational inshore angler who wants the best blank sensitivity and guide quality the brand gives anglers at this application. Blanks use SCIV graphite with ART (Advanced Reinforcing Technology) and IPC (Integrated Poly Curve) tooling, St. Croix's premium blank technology at the time of release.
Kigan Master Hand Zero Tangle guides with titanium frames are specified for saltwater corrosion resistance. Spinning models use Fuji TVS blank-touch reel seats; casting models use Fuji PTS. Top-grade cork handles throughout. 15-year transferable warranty. Price starts around $280. All 19 models are spinning except 6 casting variants. Lengths run 7'–7'11", reflecting the reach preferences of inshore anglers fishing from flats boats. The 7' M/MH/ML spinning models cover the core inshore finesse range; 7'3" and 7'6" models extend reach for longer casts or wade-fishing.
Heavy and XH models at 7'6"–7'11" handle tarpon-class fish, large redfish on heavy fluorocarbon or braid, and big topwater. The 7'11" XH spinning model and 7'9" XH casting model push into tarpon/bull redfish territory with 40-80 lb line ratings.
Deeper Dive
A closer look at notable models.
The only Medium action casting model in the lineup. The slower, more parabolic bend is suited to slow-rolling small swimbaits and working suspending plugs in cold water, techniques where a fast action would over-activate the lure.
Lightest power in the lineup. The 7'3" L/F specification serves sight-casting with jig-heads and small soft plastics to speckled trout and flounder, a finesse approach where longer reach and light power combine for delicate presentations.
Heaviest casting model. The 40-80 lb line and 2-6 oz lure range addresses tarpon, large bull redfish, and big cobia with heavy lures or live bait rigs. The MF action loads deep for big casts and provides enough cushion to fight heavy fish without breakoffs.
