Legend X Casting
High-modulus graphite tournament bass casting series, 6'8"–7'6" core lineup, for jigs, soft plastics, and reaction baits.
The St. Croix Legend X Casting is a high-end bass fishing casting rod series built on SCVI super-high-modulus graphite with FRS (Fortified Resin System) in the lower section and IPC (Integrated Poly Curve) tooling for taper consistency. Positioned just below the Premier and above the Avid series in St. Croix's freshwater hierarchy, the Legend X serves tournament-level bass anglers who need exceptional sensitivity and light weight for bottom-contact techniques, jigs, Texas rigs, crankbaits, and reaction baits. The one outlier is the XLC88HF, a 40–80lb / 8'8" heavy model oriented toward big-bait applications like large swimbaits or saltwater crossover use.
Blank construction uses ART (Advanced Reinforcing Technology) and TET (Taper Enhancement Technology) for a refined action profile across the length. Fuji PTS reel seats with blank-touch design maximize direct vibration transfer. Split-grip super-grade cork handles keep weight minimal. Titanium-framed SiC guides are standard. Reviewers consistently note excellent sensitivity, tip flexibility even in MH models, and outstanding balance, criticism centers on uninspiring cosmetics compared to Japanese rods at a similar ~$400 price point. Eleven casting-only models spanning 6'8"–8'8".
Core of the lineup sits between 6'8"–7'6" covering M, MH, and H power in F, XF, and MF actions, the standard tournament bass toolkit. The XF-action models (XLC68MXF, XLC610MXF, XLC71MHXF) are the most technique-specific, built for fast hooksets on light-lure presentations. The XLC711HMF is the heavy-swimbait and large-lure casting option within the normal bass size range. The XLC88HF at 40–80lb is a significant outlier and may see use in coastal striper or inshore contexts.

Model notes
4 of 11 modelsCompact M-power XF action for finesse casting with light jigs and drop-shot follow-ups on a casting setup. The extra-fast taper telegraphs subtle bites with minimal rod in hand.
XF action in MH power, a specific combination for fast hooksets on jig and Texas rig presentations where the angler needs backbone without sacrificing tip responsiveness. A frequently cited model in user reviews.
Longest standard model before the outlier 8'8", H power MF action at 7'11" for big swimbaits, large spinnerbaits, and heavy crankbaits. The MF taper allows the blank to load properly with bulkier lures.
Outlier model rated 40–80lb, substantially outside standard bass applications. The 8'8" H-power fast blank with a 40–80lb line rating suggests large-pike, trophy-bass swimbaiting, or inshore saltwater crossover use. The lure weight tops at 1 1/2oz, so it is outside the chuck-and-wind heavy-gear rod lane.
