The St. Croix Legend X Spinning is a domestically produced (Park Falls, WI) premium freshwater spinning series made for tournament-level and dedicated recreational bass, walleye, and multi-species anglers. It sits below the Legend Elite in the St. Croix hierarchy but above the Avid and Mojo families. The series is best suited to medium-cover spinning presentations, finesse jigging, drop-shot, Neko rig, shaky head, and light swimbaits, where blank sensitivity and precise action taper are performance requirements.
Blanks combine SCVI and SCV high-modulus graphite with FRS (Fortified Resin System) and IPC (Integrated Poly Curve) tooling for consistent action geometry across production runs. Taper Enhancement Technology (TET) curves the taper pattern for improved load-to-action response. Guides are Fuji Torzite with titanium frames, Torzite rings are lighter and smoother than standard zirconia, reducing line slap and weight. Fuji TVS blank-touch reel seat maintains blank-to-hand feel. Split super-grade cork handle. 15-year transferable warranty.
MSRP approximately $450 retail. Five models, all spinning, ranging 6'8" to 7'0" in M, ML, and MH powers. Actions are XF (two models) and F (three models). The two XF models, both in the 6'8"–6'10" range, are the highest-sensitivity options for touch-dependent techniques like drop-shot and Neko. The F-action models serve broader coverage. The 7'0" MH/F is the series workhorse for heavier spinning techniques. No ultralight or heavy models, this is a tight, technique-specific lineup.
Deeper Dive
A closer look at notable models.
The finesse benchmark of the series. ML/XF at 6'10" is specialized for drop-shot and Neko rig on light fluorocarbon, where blank telegraph and tip snap on the hook set matter more than casting distance.
The heavy end of the series. At MH/F, it handles heavier jigs, medium swimbaits, and situations where fighting larger fish demands more blank backbone. Useful as an all-day multi-technique rod when downscaling from a baitcaster.
