The Legend X2 is St. Croix's flagship bass series, built on SCVII carbon fiber infused with graphene, making it the highest-modulus blank in the St. Croix lineup. Graphene infusion is used to increase stiffness-to-weight ratio beyond what straight carbon achieves. The series retails above $600 and is sold as a tournament-grade tool instead of an all-purpose rod. It is a separate design philosophy emphasizing maximum sensitivity and low weight. Guides are full-titanium Torzite throughout the lineup.
Torzite rings are harder and lighter than standard SiC, and the titanium frames reduce overall guide train weight substantially compared to stainless or aluminum-framed alternatives. Blanks use both Taper Enhancement Technology (TET) and IPC tooling. Custom St. Croix carbon reel seats are used instead of off-the-shelf Fuji units. Split-grip cork handles are fitted per model for technique-specific ergonomics. The 15-year transferable warranty applies. The 22-model lineup spans 6'8"–7'6" in 11 casting and 11 spinning configurations.
Both sub-groups mirror each other closely in length and power range, reflecting a balanced technique coverage across power (H/MH for jigs and flipping), finesse (ML/XF for drop shot and ned rig), and mid-tier presentations. XF actions appear in both casting and spinning models. The LXTC76MHMF at 7'6" MH/MF is the longest and addresses swimbait/big jig presentations where parabolic load matters.
Deeper Dive
A closer look at notable models.
Shorter M/XF casting model at 6'8" is the topwater and reaction bait rod in the lineup. Skipping docks, short pitches, and surface presentations where a 7'+ stick creates handling problems around structure.
Longest spinning model at 7'6" ML/XF. The graphene blank at this length and power is designed for drop shot and Ned rig at maximum casting range on open-water fisheries. Every extra foot of distance matters when fish are spooky.
Longest casting model at 7'6" MH/MF. The medium-fast action at this length is suited to large swimbaits and bladed jigs where a full-fast tip would over-work the presentation and reduce hook-up rate on reaction strikes.
