The St. Croix Legend Xtreme is St. Croix's premium freshwater bass rod series, top of the company's bass lineup and one of the most technically specified production bass rods built in the USA. It serves competitive tournament anglers and serious recreational bass fishers who want maximum sensitivity, weight reduction, and responsiveness. ICAST 2012 Best Freshwater Rod. MSRP approximately $410. Blanks are built on high-modulus/high-strain SCV carbon with Fortified Resin System (FRS) and carbon-matte scrim, using Integrated Poly Curve (IPC) mandrel technology to eliminate stepped transitions for uniform taper.
Guide system is Daiwa's exclusive AGS (Air Guide System) carbon fiber frames, the lightest production guide system available, maximizing vibration transmission. The tip is a Fuji KG with Torznite ring. Handles use 2nd Generation Xtreme Skin with a proprietary raindrop-texture finish for wet-hand control. 15-year transferable warranty. Made in Park Falls, Wisconsin. Thirteen models span 6'3"–7'6" in casting (7) and spinning (6) configurations. Fast and extra-fast actions are standard across the lineup.
The XF (extra-fast) models, XFC68MXF, XFC71MHXF, XFS610MLXF, XFS63MXF, XFS68MXF, XFS73MLXF, form a distinct finesse subset. The single moderate-fast model is XFC76MHMF (7'6" MH MF), suited for swimbaits and larger moving lures. H power appears once (XFC74HF, 7'4") for heavy jig and large swimbait work.

A closer look at notable models.
Shortest rod in the series at 6'3". XF action spinning rod for light drop-shot, split-shot, and ned-rig work on 6–10 lb fluorocarbon in close quarters, docks, laydowns, and boat-deck drop-shotting where a longer rod would be cumbersome.
Extra-fast M power casting rod, the jerkbait and light finesse casting specialist. XF taper with M blank provides maximum tip sensitivity for subtle bites while the fast-recovering tip imparts sharp jerkbait twitches on 8–14 lb fluorocarbon.
Longest extra-fast ML spinning rod at 7'3". The combination of XF taper and ML power is optimized for drop-shot sensitivity at range, detecting subtle bites in deeper water where the rod tip must telegraph line movement before the angler feels it in the hand.
The only H-power model in the series. At 7'4" with fast action and 14–25 lb line, this is the flipping and big-jig rod of the lineup, heavy cover work where the AGS guide sensitivity advantage still pays off on hookset feedback.
The only moderate-fast action model in the series. At 7'6" MH, the softer tip is intentional for treble-hook moving baits, swimbaits, large crankbaits, and chatterbaits, where fast action would over-lever fish off the hooks. The longest rod in the lineup.
