The Mojo Musky is St. Croix's mid-tier musky casting rod series, made for freshwater musky and large pike anglers who want durable, technique-spanning tools without ascending to Legend Tournament pricing. The 2025 redesign introduced the ergonomic TRIGON handle with a curved triangular profile to reduce fatigue during figure-eight retrieves, and the GRASP II angler-adjustable reel seat. All 20 models are casting; there are Spinning variants in this lineup is absent. Blanks are SCIII carbon fiber with Fortified Resin System (FRS) reinforcement.
Black stainless-steel guide frames with stainless-steel rings are used throughout. Handle materials are agglomerated cork with premium EVA, and a premium EVA butt cap. Two distinct handle style families run through the series: Mod Split (JOMFG prefix) and Split Grip (JOMSG prefix). Telescopic (T suffix) models collapse to 90"–94" for transport. The series carries a 5-year warranty. Price range: $300–$440. The lineup runs from 7'6" to 10'6". The JOMFG sub-line (12 rods) uses the larger Mod Split handle format in H and XH powers, 7'6"–10'6", lure weights 3/4 oz to 24 oz, covering big baits up to 1.5 lbs.
The JOMSG sub-line (8 rods) uses Split Grip handles in M and MH powers, 7'10"–9'6", lure weights 3/4 oz to 6 oz, oriented toward lighter presentations. XH models reach 8–24 oz and accommodate the largest musky lures. Two-piece models (2 suffix) are the 10' and 10'6" options only.
Deeper Dive
A closer look at notable models.
Lightest model in the series at M power, 40-80lb line, and a 3oz lure ceiling. Suited for smaller bucktails, jerkbaits, and glide baits where a softer blank improves lure action and is less fatiguing during all-day figure-eight work.
Telescopic version of the JOMFG86HF. Collapses to 90" for transport in vehicles without a roof rack. The telescopic mechanism adds cost ($390 vs $320); specs are otherwise identical to the non-T variant.
Heaviest single-piece rod in the lineup at 9' XH; the 8-24oz lure range accommodates very large sucker-tail lures and oversized glide baits. Designed for anglers made for trophy fish in open water where casting distance matters.
10' XH two-piece model, the heaviest 10-footer and one of only two 10'+ rods with an XH rating. At 8-24oz lure ceiling this is specialized for the largest glide baits and surface lures fished at long range.
One of three 2-piece models in the series, at 10' H. The added length is intended for reservoir and large lake scenarios where long casts from a boat or long figure-eight arcs at boat-side improve bait coverage. Two-piece collapses to 90".
