The Premier Casting series is St. Croix's mid-range freshwater casting rod line, positioned below the Avid and Legend tiers and made for general bass, walleye, and multi-species freshwater anglers. All 12 models are single-application casting rods spanning 5'6" to 7'0" in M through H power with Fast actions throughout, covering the broadest practical range of freshwater casting techniques. The 2025 generation added Taper Enhancement Technology (TET) to the established SCII blanks. Blanks are built on St. Croix's SCII mid-modulus graphite fiber with the addition of TET in the current generation, contributing to a reported 10% average weight reduction across the lineup versus prior versions.
Guides are Kigan Master Hand 3D with slim aluminum-oxide rings and black frames. Reel seats are Fuji ECS, TCS, or PSS depending on model, with frosted silver hoods. Handles are premium-grade cork, a distinguishing feature at this price point. Two-piece variants (suffix F2) exist for seven of the twelve models, matching their 1-piece counterparts in full specification. St. Croix backs the series with a 5-year warranty. The 12 casting models span four length classes: 5'6" M (PC56MF), 6'0" M and MH, 6'6" M and MH (with 1- and 2-piece options for both), and 7'0" ML, M, MH, and H (with 1- and 2-piece options for 7' MH and H).
The 7' H (PC70HF/PC70HF2) is the most powerful option and covers flipping and heavy cover work; the 5'6" M is the shortest and lightest for pitching in tight quarters.
Deeper Dive
A closer look at notable models.
Shortest model in the series; M power at 5'6" suits pitching tight to dock posts or flipping brush in confined spaces where a longer rod becomes unwieldy.
Heaviest model in the lineup. H power, Fast action at 7' for flipping jigs and heavy soft plastics into thick cover. Available in 1- and 2-piece (PC70HF2) configurations.
The lightest-power 7' option; ML Fast for finesse casting presentations, lighter drop shots on casting setups, small swimbaits, or wacky-style rigs thrown on baitcasting gear at reduced line weights.
