Musky-dedicated casting series built for big-lure fishing on north-central and northeastern lakes. Intended anglers fish figure-8s and long casts with bucktails, glide baits, and oversized topwater from boats. The series spans 6'10" to 9', all fast action, all casting, Spinning variants in this PM series is absent. The lineup covers the full range from entry-level musky (PM610MF at 1/2–2 oz) through trophy-class jerks and magnum gliders (PM90XHF at 8–16 oz). Blank construction: SCII carbon fiber with St. Croix's Fortified Resin System (FRS), which increases interlaminar shear strength for added blank durability under the repeated heavy-cast stress of musky fishing.
Taper Enhancement Technology (TET) fine-tunes action transition points for accurate casting with large lures. Guides are lightweight K-style stainless-steel frames with aluminum-oxide rings, chosen over SiC for cost management while maintaining durability at this power level. Cork-composite handle with nylon reel seat and locking stainless hood. Note: the current production lineup uses updated model codes (SCPC-series); the PM-prefix models represented here are a prior generation. Construction technology descriptions are consistent between generations.
All 15 models are fast-action baitcasters organized by length (6'10" through 9') and power (MH/H/XH). Several models offer both 1-piece and 2-piece (PM70HF and PM70HF2) versions of the same spec. Power steps follow a clear pattern: MH for 3/4–3 oz gliders, H for 2–8 oz bucktails and topwater, XH for 3–16 oz magnum lures and heavy cable leaders.
Deeper Dive
A closer look at notable models.
Shortest and lightest model; M power is atypical for musky, suited to smaller bucktails, inline spinners, or pike on medium-weight gear. Entry point for anglers transitioning from bass tackle.
7' XH at 50–100 lb line; one of the stiffest short-format models. Intended for large glide baits and bottom-sweeping during open-water or river musky presentations where leverage matters over length.
8' XH handles 6–12 oz, the magnum-lure sweet spot. Extra length helps load large gliders on the cast and provides reach for dockside figure-8s with heavy hardware.
Longest model at 9'; 8–16 oz lure rating is the heaviest in the series. Used for distance-casting magnum swimbaits on large open lakes or trolling-adjacent applications.
