The Rift Salt is St. Croix's nearshore boat rod series built for a range of saltwater species from striped bass and flounder to trevally and grouper. It serves the inshore-to-nearshore boat angler who needs rods capable of handling braided and monofilament across a wide line spectrum (10–120 lb) without sacrificing sensitivity. The series positions between St. Croix's freshwater boat rods and heavier offshore gear. Blanks are SCIII carbon fiber processed with St. Croix's ART (Advanced Reinforced Technology) and IPC (Integrated Poly Curve) tooling, intended to produce consistent tapers and improve flex recovery.
The FRS (Fortified Resin System) adds structural resin reinforcement. Guides are Alconite-ring with stainless K-frame, corrosion resistant but not titanium. Handles are premium EVA with a nylon/stainless reel seat and double-lock nut. All models are single-piece. A rubber gimbal butt cap is standard. Backed by St. Croix's 5-year warranty. The 16-model lineup divides into 7 conventional and 9 spinning rods spanning 6'6" to 7'10". Conventional models (6'6"–7'3") run M through H power in fast or moderate-fast action; shorter 6'6" models carry single handle, longer models carry two handles.
Spinning models (7'–7'10") extend the reach with an ML-power moderate-fast option for lighter presentations and two 7'10" models capable of handling 40–120 lb line. The RIFSS710HMF (7'10" H MF, 40–120 lb, 3-handle) is the heaviest-rigged rod in the group.
Deeper Dive
A closer look at notable models.
Short single-handle conventional; compact for trolling from smaller boats or fighting fish at the rail in tight quarters. Fast action suits direct hook-sets on braided line in 30–65 lb range.
Heavy 6'6" single-handle conventional rated to 100 lb; the most powerful short conventional in the series. Suited for heavy jigs or live bait made for large bottom-dwellers or trolling with stout setups from smaller boats.
The lightest-rated spinning model in the series at 10–30 lb line; moderate-fast action makes it the go-to for lighter inshore presentations like lighter jigs or live-lining smaller baits where feel and bend range matter.
Three-handle 7'10" H-power spinning rod rated to 120 lb, the series' most capable spinning model. Designed for big-fish levering power when fighting heavy gamefish on spinning gear from a boat.
