The Skandic is St. Croix's mid-tier ice fishing rod series positioned one tier above the Mojo Ice, with retail pricing roughly $75–$110. The 12 models span 24" to 36" in UL through MH spinning configurations plus two 34" casting/jigging models, covering panfish through walleye and opportunistic pike applications. The series debuted in the ICAST New Product Showcase. Blanks are precision-taper solid carbon (SC), similar in construction approach to the Mojo Ice but with upgraded components throughout.
Guides are SeaGuide Delta TYG with ADAM (Anti-ice/Anti-Debris anti-abrasion) coating to reduce friction, shed ice buildup, and improve line control in sub-freezing conditions. The tiptop is SeaGuide stainless steel with PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) coating. Stripper and running guides are SeaGuide light-wire design, further reducing surface area where ice can accumulate. Handles are agglomerated cork, tailored per model and distinguishing the Skandic from the synthetic EVA handles on the Mojo Ice.
Select models feature color-coded tips for visual strike detection. Backed by a 5-year warranty. The 10 spinning models (SKAS prefix) parallel the Mojo Ice structure: 24" UL/ML/M, 28" UL/ML/M, 32" M, and 36" L/M/MH. The two casting models (SKAC prefix) are both 34", MH and H power, for jigging-specific rigs. The primary distinctions from the Mojo Ice are the ADAM-coated guides, cork handles, and PVD tiptop instead of standard stainless steel.
Deeper Dive
A closer look at notable models.
Heaviest model in the series; 34" H casting/jigging configuration for aggressive walleye or pike jigging techniques. Stiffer blank provides better jig control and hook-set power on large fish.
Shortest and lightest model; 24" UL for small panfish in shallow water. Cork handle improves grip feel in gloves compared to EVA alternatives.
The only L-power model; 36" Light for finesse applications in deeper water, suspended crappie, light bluegill, or any situation where maximum sensitivity at depth is preferred over power.
Longest spinning model and heaviest at MH; suited for walleye and larger perch in deep water. Matches the Mojo Ice 36" MH in length and power but adds upgraded ADAM guides and cork handle.
