Sole Saltwater

The Sole Saltwater is St. Croix's mid-range inshore spinning system, sold primarily as a rod-and-reel combo matched to St. Croix's proprietary Sole spinning reels. It fits anglers who want a pre-matched, balanced inshore setup at a moderate price point, above the entry-level Mojo Salt but below the Legend Xtreme Inshore. Species and technique focus is the same as other inshore spinning series: redfish, speckled trout, snook, and flounder using soft plastics, gold spoons, topwater plugs, and popping corks.

Blanks use SCII carbon (a lower modulus than the SCV used in Legend Xtreme) with FRS reinforcement, making these more durable and forgiving relative to the flagship series, at the cost of some sensitivity. Fast action across all four models is consistent with inshore casting demands. Handles use agglomerated cork with a fingers-forward grip design and nylon/stainless reel seat, not the split-grip or full-grip of higher-end models. The -C suffix on all model numbers denotes the combo variant. Rod weight data was not independently confirmed; Daiwa does not publish detailed standalone rod specs separate from the combo listing.

Four spinning models cover a focused range: two 7' rods at M and MH power, one 7' H power rod, and one 7'6" MH. The M models target trout-class fish on lighter presentations (8–17 lb, 3/8–3/4 oz); the MH models handle redfish-class lures (10–20 lb, 1/2–1.25 oz); the 7' H is the bull-redfish option at 12–25 lb and 3/4–2 oz. Casting rods in this series subset is absent.
