The Triumph Musky Casting series is St. Croix's entry-tier dedicated musky rod line, built for anglers who want purpose-made musky tools without the premium cost of the Avid or Legend Musky series. Musky fishing demands heavy, bulky presentations, large bucktails, swimbaits, glide baits, surface lures, and jerkbaits, all requiring high power ratings and the ability to handle repeated figure-eight maneuvers at boatside. Blanks use SCII premium graphite, the same material grade as the Sole Saltwater, which prioritizes durability over sensitivity.
For musky work, where rods take sustained stress from throwing heavy lures all day and forcing big fish, durability is the correct tradeoff. Hard aluminum-oxide guides handle heavy braid or heavy mono without grooves. Fuji reel seats (ECS or TCS) with sandblasted hoods are used for grip security on oversized casting reels. Fast action across all four models enables both quick hooksets and the power-loading needed to move large lures on figure-eight turns. Handle length increases with power (Handle 3 on MH, Handle 4 on H and XH) to accommodate two-handed retrieves.
Four casting models only, spanning 7' and 7'6" lengths with MH, H, and XH power variants. The 7' models (TMR70MHF at MH, TMR70XHF at XH) cover lighter bucktail work up to 3 oz on the short side, and heavy punch applications up to 8 oz. The 7'6" models (TMR76MHF and TMR76HF) extend leverage for larger lures and boat-side maneuvering. The TMR70XHF at 50–100 lb / 3–8 oz is the outlier, the most extreme power in the series.
Deeper Dive
A closer look at notable models.
Heaviest model in the series at XH power, 3–8 oz lure range, 50–100 lb line. Suited for the largest musky glide baits, magnum swimbaits, and rubber mega-baits that require extreme blank stiffness to force the hookset and prevent blank-loading at boatside.
The long H-power option. 7'6" length helps anglers execute wide, deep figure-eights at boatside, the standard musky follow-up move, while carrying 2–6 oz lures. An upgrade from the 7' MH for anglers made for larger bodies of water.
