Built with SCII mid-modulus graphite fiber, the series delivers meaningful sensitivity and lightness compared to fiberglass-dominant competitors in its price class. The series is a reliable first surf rod step-up from hardware store options. Construction: SCII graphite blank in 2-piece configuration, aluminum-oxide guides for durability under saltwater abrasion, split cork tape handle with EVA butt section, reviewers note the cork tape grips well when wet. Moderate-fast action across all models is a considered choice for surf work: fast enough to detect bites, soft enough to cast heavy sinker rigs without punishing the angler.
A 5-year warranty with St. Croix's Superstar Service backs the line. Rod weight on the 10'6" MH is 16.5oz, acceptable for the class. Five spinning models cover 7'–10'6" with M and MH power ratings. The primary distance surf casting model: 10'6", MH power, 2–6oz lure range for heavy sinker rigs with cut bait or large plugs. At 16.5oz this is the heaviest rod in the series, manageable for hours of casting but a step up in fatigue from lighter graphite options.
