The St. Croix Trout Series Spinning is a specialized freshwater trout rod made for stream and river anglers fishing light presentations, small plugs, inline spinners, spoons, and small jerkbaits, on 4–8 lb line. The Extra Fast action and Light power suit anglers who need precise lure animation and quick hook sets on small-mouthed species. The rod is a poor match for dough baits or weight-forward rigging; its action favors hard-body lures and unweighted or lightly weighted natural presentations.

The blank uses SCII carbon fiber with SCVI reinforcements, a construction update that St. Croix introduced to improve flexural strength at lower mass. Sea Guide Atlas Performance guides with stainless steel frames and rings replace the Kigan guides found on higher St. Croix tiers. The reel seat is a Sea Guide NPS with integrated rear nut; handle configuration is split grip with premium EVA. The rod weighs 3.2 oz and carries a 5-year warranty.

The series currently lists a single model: 7'0", Light power, Extra Fast action, 2-piece, rated for 4–8 lb line and 1/16–1/4 oz lures. The model code TFS70LXF2 designates Trout Series / 7'0" / Light / XF / 2-piece. Pricing places it as a mid-tier accessible trout rod.

The Extra Fast action performs well with small plugs and jerkbaits but field testers noted it has a tendency to sling dough bait on distance casts, the action loads too quickly for soft bait presentations. At 3.2 oz and 7 feet, it gives good reach for small streams without excess fatigue. The SCII/SCVI blank delivers more sensitivity than the price point suggests.
