Gx2 Spinning Rod

The Ugly Stik Gx2 Spinning Rod is the spinning-only subset of the broader GX2 platform, identified by the USGXSP prefix. The line covers 20 models from 4'6" ultralight to 9' medium, spanning panfish, trout, walleye, bass, catfish, and light surf or pier work. Models are offered in one- and two-piece configurations encoded in the SKU. Construction follows Ugly Tech, a graphite and fiberglass composite blank that emphasizes durability over raw sensitivity.

The signature Clear Tip section extends the lower blank into the tip for added strength. Guides are one-piece stainless steel Ugly Tuff units with PVD coating to reduce line fray and eliminate insert pop-out. Handles use shrink-tube wrap instead of cork or EVA, paired with an ergonomic reel seat that exposes the blank for added feel. Line ratings run 2-6 lb on the ultralight models, 4-10 lb on light, 6-15 lb on medium, and 8-20 lb on medium-heavy and heavy.

Lengths concentrate at 5'10", 6', 6'6", and 7' for general freshwater work. The 9' medium covers light surf, steelhead, and catfish use cases. Pure Fishing covers the Gx2 with a seven-year warranty.
