Defy Gold Spinning Rod
Budget multi-species spinning series; 24T Japanese blank in ML–M powers for walleye, trout, and bass finesse.
The 13 Fishing Defy Gold is a budget spinning series (~$59) built on a 24-ton Japanese blank with a fast action throughout. It works as a multi-species freshwater workhorse, with the manufacturer citing walleye, trout, and general predator species alongside bass finesse applications. The 24-ton modulus is deliberately lower than high-end graphite, it provides added impact resistance and a more forgiving tip bend curve that suits walleye-style jigging and vertical presentations where anglers may encounter hard structure or weigh fish frequently.
Evolve stainless-steel Alconite guides and full-grip cork handles are above what the price point typically delivers. The series is spinning-only, and all models carry the same fast action and ML or M power ratings, a narrow power band showing finesse orientation. There is no heavy-power option in this series; anglers needing H or MH power for heavier bass techniques should look elsewhere in the 13 Fishing catalog. A lengthened tip section is cited as a design choice to reduce tension on running fish, more relevant to trout and walleye than bass.
Seven spinning models span 6'3" to 7'6" in ML and M power, with fast action throughout. ML models (6'3", 6'6", 6'9", 7'2", 7'6") make up the majority; M models (6'6", 6'9") provide a secondary power step. The 7'6" ML is the longest, suited for walleye in rivers or open-water trout fishing where reach and lighter line management matter.
Shaded band: the spread of the lineup's 7 models, as percentile rank among same-type rods. Solid line = series median · dashed ring = catalog median.

Model notes
2 of 7 modelsShortest model; compact for stream trout, dock fishing, or travel. The 6'3" length with ML power is also appropriate for ice-to-open-water transition jigging in tight boat quarters.
Longest model at 7'6" ML, suited for open-water walleye presentations, river trout, or finesse bass on large impoundments where extra reach improves line management and casting distance.
