The 13 Fishing Muse Black (second generation, MB2 prefix) is a mid-to-upper-tier casting rod series designed for freshwater bass anglers who want technique-specific builds without moving into custom rod pricing. It fits anglers fishing a range of techniques from finesse mid-range presentations to heavy-cover work, with each model dialed to a specific application through 13 Fishing's Zonal Action Technology (ZAT1), a variable-taper approach that allows differentiated flex profiles across the blank instead of a simple uniform action rating. The 36-ton PVG blank construction is the performance core.
The Evolve Airfoil Carbon reel seat transmits vibration directly to the palm instead of through a traditional cork or EVA intermediate, a sensitivity enhancement common in competition rods at this tier. High-density EVA grips instead of traditional cork keep grip weight consistent and reduce cost variability. At approximately $250 retail, the Muse Black competes with Shimano Expride and Megabass Orochi in the premium-domestic-production category. No delamination or finish issues are noted specifically for the MB2 generation. All 10 models are casting format, 6'8" to 7'6".
The series is entirely medium through heavy power, with Finesse-light entry is absent. Actions are predominantly fast (F) with two extra-fast (XF) MH entries and one moderate-fast (MF) MH outlier. The MB2C74MHM at 7'4" MH-MF is the anomaly, a slower-loading model likely intended for moving baits like swimbaits or bladed jigs where the rod needs to load before the hookset. The XF entries at 7'1" and 7'3" MH power serve reaction-bait techniques requiring instant hookset.

A closer look at notable models.
Moderate-fast action distinguishes this from all other models in the series. The slower tip loads for moving baits, bladed jigs, vibrating jigs, swimbaits, where a faster-action rod would skip past the load cycle. At MH power, it still provides adequate hook drive.
Longest heavy-power entry, targeted at flipping, punching, and big-lure work in heavy cover. Fast action provides enough tip for casting control while the H blank delivers hookset power and fish-turning leverage through braided line.
Extra-fast action at MH power, reaction bait and flipping entry at the shorter end of the series. The 7'1" length with XF action suits jerkbaits, topwater, and soft-plastic techniques where instant tip recovery is needed to set the hook before slack forms.
