The 13 Fishing Omen +S Spinning Rod is an inshore and freshwater spinning series built on 36-ton Toray graphite, made for bass, speckled trout, redfish, and flounder. The series covers two distinct use cases: a standard freshwater bass spinning lineup in the 7'1"–7'4" range, and a heavier inshore/saltwater complement denoted by -LB (light braided line) and -HD (heavy duty) suffixes on the longer models. That gives the Omen +S a dual-purpose series instead of a species-specific design. Blanks are Japanese 36-ton Toray graphite, higher modulus than the Defy Black, providing improved sensitivity for spinning applications.
Guides are Fuji stainless steel K-frame with Fazlite inserts, braid-compatible. An Evolve custom reel seat reduces weight and enhances blank sensitivity; an Evolve snagless hook keeper prevents line tangles during carry. Split-grip handles throughout; 5-year limited warranty. The -HD models at 7'6"–8'0" receive heavier-duty guide frames for repeated saltwater use. Fourteen spinning models run 7'1" to 8'. The freshwater core (OSS71M, OSS71MH, OSS74M, OSS74MH, OSS74ML) in the 7'1"–7'4" range covers ML through MH for standard bass finesse.
The -LB suffix models duplicate these lengths and powers for braid setups. Three 8' -HD models (OSS76H, OSS8H, OSS8XH, OSS8XXH) escalate to heavy and extra-heavy powers (H through XXH, 30-65lb) for surf and inshore made for large snook, cobia, and redfish, essentially big-water spinning tools on the same platform.
Deeper Dive
A closer look at notable models.
Lightest-power standard (non-LB) model at ML/F; 6-10lb for finesse bass presentations, drop shot, shakey head, light Carolina rig. Notably lighter line rating than the ML-LB variant, suggesting standard mono/fluoro pairing.
Entry point into the -HD inshore group; 7'6" H on 15-30lb handles snook, redfish, and heavier inshore species. Heavy-duty guide frames and corrosion-resistant components separate this model from the freshwater spinning build.
Heaviest model in the series at 8' XXH on 30-65lb with 3-5oz lure range, effectively a surf or nearshore popping rod for large jack, cobia, tarpon, or heavy swimbait applications. Well outside standard spinning bass territory.
