VTP is the previous-generation Veritas, the model run that preceded the current VRP series. Blanks use 30-ton graphite with Powerlux resin and SubLayer Armor high-density carbon reinforcement for hoop strength. The current generation moved to Powerlux 100, which Abu Garcia describes as 15% stronger and 5% lighter than the resin system on this prior generation.
Components include titanium alloy guides with zirconium inserts on a ROCS (Robotically Optimized Casting System) layout, a custom Abu Garcia reel seat with exposed blank contact, and high-density EVA split grips. Models are one-piece except where a two-piece spigot variant is offered. The 18-model lineup runs ML to H in casting and ML to MH in spinning, lengths 6'6" to 7'6".
Two W-suffix models (VTPCW70-5, VTPCW76-6) carry moderate actions for treble-hook reaction baits. Sold as a mid-tier US bass platform at retail when current.
