The Daiwa Laguna is an entry-level freshwater rod made for beginners and budget-conscious anglers covering bass, panfish, and general freshwater lure fishing. The target angler is someone getting started or looking for an affordable secondary rod. Blanks are IM-6 graphite with woven carbon construction, which provides adequate durability at the price point but lacks the modulus refinement of mid-tier and upper-tier Daiwa blanks.
Aluminum-oxide guides and a stainless-steel hooded reel seat are standard components. Split foam grips reduce weight. Both 1-piece and 2-piece configurations exist within the lineup, denoted by the suffix digit in the model code. The 19-model lineup is predominantly spinning, covering UL through MH power in 5'6" to 7'6" lengths. UL models appear at 5'6", 6', 6'6", and 7' in both 1-piece and 2-piece.
Casting models ("B" suffix) exist in 6' MH, 6'6" M and MH, 7' M and MH. Actions are mostly Fast, with XF variants at 6'6" and 7' in ML and M spinning models. The 7'6" XF spinning model is the longest in the lineup, notable for its extra-fast action on a longer blank suited to open-water presentations.

Shortest model in the series. 5'6" UL is sized for tight-quarters panfishing or small trout streams where longer rods are impractical. Line rating of 1-4 lb is at the absolute light end of the lineup.
H power casting rod, one of two in the series. Appropriate for frogging, punching lighter mats, or working larger swimbaits. A significant power step up from the MH models.
The only 7'6" model in the lineup. Extra-fast action on the longest blank suits long casts with lighter lures on open water, a reach that the 7' models can't match for surf edges or large reservoirs.
