The Lew's Crappie Thunder Spinning Rod is an entry-to-mid-tier two-piece spinning series aimed squarely at crappie anglers. This is a general-purpose crappie rod, outside the technique-specific tool lane, it accommodates the basic array of crappie presentations: jigging, live minnow under a float, and light-line casting with small spinners or hair jigs. The Mr. Crappie branding association and entry-level construction position it for anglers who want a dedicated crappie setup without committing to a premium rod budget.
Blanks are premium graphite construction with stainless-steel guides and inserts. All three models are two-piece, Light power, and Fast action, a consistent character across the lineup that prioritizes tip sensitivity and quick hookset over casting distance or versatility. The EVA handle keeps weight low for all-day dock or bank fishing. No cork on the base models. The Fast action suits the short, controlled hooksets needed when crappie are taking small jigs with minimal commitment. All three rods are spinning, L power, F action.
The lineup steps through three lengths: 4'6" (CTS46-2), 5'6" (CTS56-2), and 6'6" (CTS66-2). All carry the same line (2–8 lb) and lure (1/16–1/4 oz) ratings. Model notes
2 of 3 modelsShortest model in the lineup. Most appropriate for vertical jigging from docks or boats where casting distance is unnecessary and a short rod reduces fatigue during repetitive up-and-down jigging. Also manageable for young or smaller-framed anglers.
The longest model at 6'6", gives additional casting range for locating suspended crappie at distance or fishing from bank positions where reach matters. Identical specs to the shorter models; choice is purely about preferred casting arc and reach.
