The Team Lew's Signature Series is a pro-input bass rod line developed with tournament anglers Kevin VanDam, Andy Montgomery, Mark Rose, and Greg Hackney. Each rod was matched to a specific bass technique; the lineup consequently skews toward casting and heavier applications. Walleye, or ultralight models. Blanks use Lew's proprietary multi-layer graphite with FOCAS Resin Concentrated Blank Technology, which the company states yields 75% greater tip strength compared to standard blanks.
Hardware includes Seaguide RA guides with aluminum oxide inserts, Full Contact reel seats for increased blank contact, and Winn Dri-Tac split grips. Three years of pro development preceded the initial release. The lineup runs 21 rods, heavily weighted toward casting (17 casting, 4 spinning). Casting lengths stretch from 6'9" to 7'11"; spinning models are 6'10" to 7'4".
Powers range from M to H on casting, M on spinning. Suffix codes (CB, LJO, SWJ) denote technique-specific variants. The CB suffix indicates a crankbait model with different action geometry; LJO is a bladed jig model; SWJ a swimjig/big swimbait model.
Deeper Dive
A closer look at notable models.
Crankbait model. Moderate action distinguishes it from the fast-action majority; the narrower 10-17lb line range and 1/4-3/8oz lure window place it squarely on medium-depth crankbaits like squarebills and shad-profile divers.
Designated bladed-jig/chatterbait model. The MF action provides the slight hesitation at hookset useful with single-hook bladed jigs, and the 7'3" length adds casting reach for covering large flat areas.
Longer crankbait model with lighter line (8-12lb) than the standard TLS70M-CB. The 7'6" length and light line rating point to finesse crankbaits, lipless rattletraps, and shallow-water reaction lures on smaller bodies.
Swim jig/swimbait model. The MF action at 7'6" allows fish to fully engulf the lure before the angler sweeps into a hook set, a recognized advantage when fishing swimbaits and jigs on long leaders.
At 7'11" this is the longest rod in the series. The CB suffix with light line (10-14lb) and a low lure floor (1/8oz) suggests it is oriented toward long-distance crankbait work, casting depth-cranks and covering open water.
