Boat Tachiuo Tenya model

The Major Craft Boat Tachiuo Tenya model (SPXJ series) is a baitcasting rod designed specifically for the Japanese tenya technique made for tachiuo (ribbonfish / hairtail) from a boat. Tenya fishing uses a weighted hook-rig with cut bait dropped vertically or semi-vertically to fish holding in the water column. The technique requires a sensitive tip to detect light bites and a responsive blank to set the hook quickly. This series sits within Major Craft's Solpara X jigging sub-range. Blanks use Major Craft's Cross Force carbon construction.

The tip is designed with a 8:2 taper ratio (stiff butt, responsive tip) for small-bite detection while maintaining hook-setting power. Fuji O-ring guides resist corrosion in saltwater. The lure-weight range (1 1/16–2 1/8oz across all models, corresponding roughly to #30–#60 tenya weights) is tightly focused. No model strays outside this window, confirming this is a single-technique specialist series. Three casting models: two lengths (5'11" and 6'3") and two power ratings (ML and M). The 5'11" M model (SPXJ-B180M/Tachi) provides a shorter, stiffer feel suited to direct vertical drop; the 6'3" models add reach for drifting or slight horizontal coverage. ML (SPXJ-B190ML/Tachi) at 6'3" provides a softer tip for detecting cautious bites; M power at 6'3" handles heavier tenya rigs or faster hooksets.
