The Finetail Stream Glass (FSG) series is a native trout rod line built on uni-directional (UD) fiberglass blanks. It fits anglers fishing small-to-mid-sized mountain streams and rivers for cherry salmon (yamame, amago), char (iwana), brown trout, and rainbow trout using lightweight lures. The glass construction is made for anglers who want the soft, fish-absorbing bend of a traditional glass blank but with slightly crisper recovery and lighter weight than woven fiberglass.

Both spinning and baitcast (BFS) formats are covered. The UD glass blank is the defining element: it loads smoothly on short casts, dampens head-shakes from trout to reduce hook pulls, and buffers the light tippets common in stream fishing. Fuji SiC guides and a polished wood reel seat with an offset full-cork grip give the series a traditional aesthetic. Baitcast models (FSG-B prefix) are intended for bait-finesse-style micro-lure work in tight quarters.

The four-rod lineup spans 5'3" and 6'3" in both spinning and baitcast, all with UL+ or L+ power and RF or R action. Lure range is 1/32-1/2 oz across the board, with the casting models carrying a slightly higher floor due to casting mechanics. Shorter 5'3" models (UL+) suit confined headwater runs; 6'3" models (L+) cover wider stream stretches. Spinning and casting share the same length and power pairings.

A closer look at notable models.

FSG-532UL+ Spinning · 5'3” · UL+ · RF action

Shortest spinning model at 5'3" with UL+ power and RF action. Suited to tight headwaters and small tributaries where backcasting room is limited. Lure range 1/32-3/8 oz covers small spoons, spinners, and micro plugs. Line to 8 lb.

FSG-632L+ Spinning · 6'3” · L+ · R action

Longer spinning model at 6'3" with L+ power and R action. Handles presentations up to 1/2 oz and provides more reach for mending and guiding lures across current lanes on wider mountain streams.

FSG-B532UL+ Casting · 5'3” · UL+ · RF action

Baitcast counterpart to the 532UL+. At 5'3" it pairs with a small BFS reel for flipping and short-range presentations in dense streamside vegetation. Lure floor raises slightly to 1/16 oz vs. The spinning version due to casting mechanics.

FSG-B632L+ Casting · 6'3” · L+ · R action

Baitcast version of the 6'3" L+ model. Raises the lure floor to 3/32 oz to work efficiently with a conventional casting setup. Covers the same river scenarios as its spinning counterpart with a baitcast presentation style.
