Finetail Workstune

The Finetail Works Tune is a premium-tier trout stream rod from Major Craft's Finetail family, designed for anglers who prioritize casting feel and fish-playing forgiveness over raw sensitivity. The "Works Tune" designation signals a build philosophy oriented toward rivers and area (managed pond) trout fishing where subtle presentation and hook retention under drag matter more than detecting faint marks. It fits the experienced Japanese trout scene, often called "area fishing", as well as small mountain streams.

Distinctively, the Works Tune uses a UD (unidirectional) fiberglass blank instead of graphite, making it one of the few Major Craft trout rods based on glass. The result is a softer, more progressive bend through the mid-section with a powerful butt, forgiving during fights but still capable of accurate short casts. Fuji K-frame SiC-S guides are fitted throughout. The handle uses carved natural wood grips with an olive-green blank aesthetic; this is a presentation-grade build by Japanese market standards.

Blank weight is not confirmed. Two rods at a single length (5'3"), one per discipline: FGW-532UL in spinning and FGW-B532UL in baitcasting. Both carry UL power, regular-fast action, and identical 2–8 lb / 1/16–3/8 oz ratings. The baitcasting model is built for bait finesse system (BFS) reels and enables tight flicking casts under overhanging cover; the spinning model covers open-water and downstream presentations. No length variety exists.
