The Hard Rock model collection aggregates two Major Craft rockfish series into one lineup: the RockLiver 1G (RV1 prefix, 1G grade, released May 2025) and the New Solpara Hard Rock (SPHR prefix, entry-level, released March 2026). Both target Japanese shore and boat anglers pursuing hard-structure saltwater species, primarily rockfish (kasago, mebaru, ainame/kelp greenling) from jetties, rocky shores, and small-boat platforms. The RV1 is the higher-grade blank; the SPHR serves cost-conscious anglers entering the hard-rock category. RV1 blanks are mid-modulus carbon with a complaint tip and powerful butt, described by the manufacturer as prioritizing bite sensitivity ('food-taking-oriented' tip flex) and strong extraction power.

SPHR blanks use a similar mid-modulus carbon formulation but are explicitly designed for ease of use and low fatigue over long sessions. Both series use Fuji K-frame guides. The RV1 carries a semi-transparent blank finish; the SPHR is the more economical construction. Both include 2-piece designs, spinning and bait models. All actions are Regular Fast (RF), consistent across the full 16-model set. The combined 16 models run from 7'6" to 9'6" spinning and 8'–9' bait. RV1 has 6 spinning (762ML to 962H) and 3 bait (802MH to 902H); SPHR has 5 spinning (762ML to 932MH) and 2 bait (B802MH and B852H).

The short-end 762ML models in both series suit harbor and boat work with lighter rigs (3–25 g); long-end 932MH–962H models are for distant rocky shoreline or surf casting with 40–50 g loads. Bait models are positioned for close-range technical jigging or swim-fishing near structure.

A closer look at notable models.

RV1-762ML Spinning · 7'6" · ML · RF action

Lightest RV1 model; manufacturer describes it as suited to harbor, jetty, and boat fishing with 5g-class rigs. Compact enough for precise work while retaining enough butt power to handle unexpected larger fish. Doubles as light-game spinning.

SPHR-762ML Spinning · 7'6" · ML · RF action

Entry-level SPHR equivalent to the RV1-762ML in spec; lightest SPHR model, recommended for harbor, boat, and small-footprint rock venues. Manufacturer notes the mild design handles a wide lure weight range, useful for beginners seeking a forgiving blank.

RV1-B802MH Casting · 8' · MH · RF action

Shortest bait model in the lineup; manufacturer emphasizes close-range work, natural presentation with lighter sinkers (5–7 g), and boat rock fishing. MH despite its delicacy at the tip, unexpectedly strong butt for its power rating per Major Craft copy.

SPHR-B852H Casting · 8'5" · H · RF action

Heaviest bait model in the SPHR group; 8'5" H power for rocky jetty or kelp-seaweed casting, rated 7–50 g. Manufacturer describes it as the series standard for demanding rockfish bait fishing where both cast distance and extraction power are required.

RV1-962H Spinning · 9'6" · H · RF action

Heaviest spinning model in the RV1 group; 9'6" H power for deep-water or fast-current rocky coastline where heavy jig heads (up to 50 g) are needed to reach bottom and strong extraction power is required to pull fish from kelp and rock.
