Ikametal model

The Ikametal model within the Egizaust 7 (EZ7IM) series is a boat spinning rod designed for ikametal fishing, a Japanese offshore squid technique combining metal squid jigs (ika-metal) with a slow-pitch or long-fall presentation style similar to slow jigging. Target species include Japanese common squid (surume ika), bigfin reef squid, and broadtail shortfin squid. The technique is conducted from boat in depths of 50-200 m and requires a rod sensitive enough to detect the subtle weight change of a striking squid while also producing the rhythmic jigging motion that triggers takes.

All four models are spinning, M power, and Fast action, built on the EZ7 platform (Egizaust 7th generation). The blank uses a cross-layered carbon structure to minimize tip deflection and improve casting distance. Lightweight carbon-frame SiC guides at the tip section reduce tip-section weight and wobble during jig animation. The ct suffix in model names indicates a counterweight grip that reduces wrist fatigue during extended rod-pumping sessions. The lineup progresses through four lengths: 5'3", 5'11", 6'4", and 6'8", while holding M power and Fast action constant across all models.

Shorter models (5'3", 5'11") favor compact boat cockpits and vertical drops; longer models (6'4", 6'8") add casting range and depth leverage. The 6'8" model carries a slightly heavier jig ceiling (to 3 15/16 oz) versus 3 5/16 oz for the three shorter rods.
