The Kishi Taco model (岸タコモデル) is Major Craft's shore-based octopus jigging rod from the 25 Solpara series, a budget-accessible entry into the dedicated shore octopus (kishi-tako) market in Japan. It serves thread-fin filefish-sized octopus from rocky shorelines, pier walls, and breakwaters using weighted octopus-specific lures (takoego, eging rigs) cast to structure and worked with sharp rod tip action to induce grabs. Both models are 7' H-power with RF (Regular Fast) action, a taper that loads through the mid-blank for casting weighted rigs while maintaining a responsive tip for detecting and transmitting the sudden grip of octopus.
Rated for PE line 1.0–4.0, which covers both lighter casting and heavier direct-pressure scenarios near structure. The Solpara series uses Fuji O-ring guides and a standard Fuji reel seat; at this price tier, components are functional instead of premium. Construction is 2-piece for transport. Two models: SPK-B702H/TACO (baitcasting) and SPK-S702H/TACO (spinning), both 7' H-power. The split between baitcasting and spinning covers angler preference for how they control line during a presentation, baitcasting suits close-quarter structure work; spinning suits longer blind casts.
No differentiation in length or power between the two.

A closer look at notable models.
Baitcasting format suited for precise drops and flips into tight structure from elevated positions (piers, seawalls). Baitcasting control is valued in kishi-tako for managing line when octopus clamps to cover and must be wrenched free quickly.
Spinning version covers distance casting to rock piles or kelp edges from open shoreline. Spinning tackle is more accessible to general shore anglers entering kishi-tako fishing for the first time.
