Sawara Casting model

The Sawara Casting Model is Major Craft's specialized offshore casting series for made for sawara (Spanish mackerel) from a boat in Japanese coastal waters. Sawara fishing involves casting metal jigs and high-speed retrieves from small boats over varied depths; the technique requires rods that load metal jigs easily, dampen vibration from fast retrieves, and provide quick hookset capability. This series is drawn from two generations, GK1 (Giant Killing 1G) and GK5 (Giant Killing 5G), sharing the same SWR application code but representing different blank generations.

Blanks are intermediate-modulus carbon designed to reduce unwanted vibration during metal jig retrieves while maintaining enough tip sensitivity to detect follows and strikes at speed. RF (Regular Fast) action is the dominant designation across all models, faster than pure regular but not tip-only fast, allowing the blank to load during a cast with a 15–60g jig. GK1 models are 7'0" two-piece builds; GK5 models are 7'3" two-piece. All casting configuration with conventional or baitcasting reels.

Five casting models total: two GK1 (7' M and MH) and two GK5 (7'3" M and MH), plus a single GK1 7'5" combo-power M/MH model. The M models handle jigs to roughly 50g and target fish in shallower water under 20m; MH models push to 60–65g for deeper work or larger fish. The 7'5" M/MH hybrid (GK1C-752M/MH SWR) is described as suitable across both depth ranges. Spinning models in this sub-series is absent.
