Shore Tachiuo Tenya model

The Shore Tachiuo Tenya model within Major Craft's Solpara X (SPX) line is a specialist shore jigging rod built specifically for hairtail (tachiuo, Trichiurus lepturus) fishing from shore using tenya rigs and soft lures. Hairtail fishing from jetties and rocky shorelines is a defined genre in Japanese shore lure fishing, demanding a rod with enough tip sensitivity to detect subtle hairtail bites while providing backbone for the repeated snapping jerk retrieve.

This rod is made for shore-based anglers made for hairtail seasonally in Japan. The SPX blank uses Major Craft's Cross Force carbon layup and Fuji guides throughout, including O-Ring SiC inserts. The Solpara X tier sits in Major Craft's entry-to-mid price band, making these accessible as first dedicated hairtail rods. The series spans two distinct tip configurations: regular taper models (the /Tachi suffix) using graded powers, and two STY (Shore Tenya Yaen) models using tubular and solid tips for heightened bite detection.

Five models cover 8'6" to 9'6" in spinning configuration. The three power-rated models (L, ML, M at 8'6"–9'6") form a conventional lure-weight progression from 3/16oz to 1 7/16oz. The SPX-962STY uses a tubular tip for sensitivity; the SPX-S902STY uses a carbon solid tip tuned for low-weight tenya presentations made for wary fish, the more technically demanding option.
