The Major Craft Banshee Begins (BFBS) is an area trout spinning rod series designed for managed fishing ponds (area fishing) in Japan, where stocked rainbow and brown trout are targeted with small lures, spoons (1–4g), micro-plugs, and light jigs. This is a specialist freshwater finesse category with no direct Western equivalent; the rods are not general bass or trout stream tools. The intended angler fishes from fixed casting positions in enclosed ponds, prioritizing feel over distance.
Blanks use Fuji VSS reel seats and Fuji O-ring guides with K-shaped stainless frames, a setup that emphasizes sensitivity and consistent casting with PE or polyester lines at extremely light weights (1.5–4 lb). The BFBS-S562UL carries a solid tip (designated by the "S" prefix) for enhanced bite detection in spoon fishing. The dual-action BFBS-622L/ML has a light tip section and medium-light butt, allowing plug manipulation while retaining backbone for the fight. Construction draws on the higher-tier Banshee Tournament series at a reduced price point.
Seven models, all 2-piece spinning. Lengths from 5'6" to 6'2". Powers span SUL through ML. Three models at 5'6" (including the solid-tip SUL variant), two at 6'0"–6'1", and two at 6'2" (including the two-stage-action L/ML). The lineup is SUL/UL-heavy, reflecting the light-line norm in area fishing. No models exceed 6'2", long casts are not the objective in this discipline.

A closer look at notable models.
Solid tip model ("S" prefix). The solid tip improves tactile feedback from soft spoon bites and allows slower, more deliberate spoon action. Paired with fast action, it reads bites earlier in the retrieve than a tubular tip.
Longest SUL model at just under 6 feet. The R (regular/moderate) action produces a more parabolic bend than the fast-action siblings, suited to spoon work where a smoother flex prevents pull-outs on light wire hooks.
Two-stage action: light tip section transitions to medium-light butt. Designed primarily for plug fishing, the soft tip transmits lure action while the stiffer butt section drives hooksets. Unique configuration within this lineup.
