The Surf Custom model is a sub-series of the Flatrek 5G (FR5) surf range from Major Craft, made for hirame (olive flounder) and other shore-accessible species from Japanese sandy beaches and open coastlines. The Flatrek platform is built for lure casting with jig heads, minnows, and metal jigs from the beach. The Surf Custom sub-series covers four distinct rods ranging from a dedicated finesse variant to a long-range heavy option. All blanks use Toray T1100G carbon processed through Major Craft's R360 construction method, which arranges carbon fiber layers to minimize blank twist during cast and fight.
Fuji SiC guides are fitted with an original spacing designed for line release stability and casting distance. Up-lock spinning reel seats suit both overhead and underarm beach casting styles. The FR5 platform is a 5G (fifth generation) mid-to-upper grade product with pricing in the 43,000-46,750 yen range tax-in. The four rods span 9'0" to 10'10".
