The Major Craft NEW SOLPARA Tai Rubber Game model (SPJTR series) is an entry-level offshore baitcasting rod designed to make tai rubber (rubber jig) fishing accessible to newcomers without sacrificing the core technical requirements of the method. Released in March 2025, it fits beginning to intermediate offshore boat anglers fishing for madai (Japanese red sea bream) in enclosed bays, the Seto Inland Sea, and coastal open water. Priced at approximately ¥11,000–12,000 (tax included), it sits in the accessible tier of Major Craft's lineup.
Blanks use mid-modulus carbon with a solid tip designed to absorb bites without alerting the fish. Guides are Fuji K-frame throughout, the same guide family used in upper-tier Major Craft models, fitted in spiral guide train to reduce line twist and tangles. The ML model uses larger-diameter guides specifically to counter jellyfish debris fouling on PE line. Grip is ergonomic for long sessions, down-lock baitcasting design with removable grip section. The spiral guide layout is a notable feature for an entry-tier rod.
Six bait models, all at 6'9", covering three power ratings (UL, L, ML) in both one-piece (B69x/S) and two-piece (B692x/S) versions at identical pricing. The two-piece variants offer easier transport with no performance or cost penalty. UL handles up to 100g/130g dottera for shallow and low-current scenarios; L is the all-around standard model for vertical and drift fishing; ML handles heavier 160g/200g loads for deeper open-coast applications.

A closer look at notable models.
Two-piece version of the standard L model. Identical specs and price to the one-piece B69L/S, making this the practical default for anglers with storage or transport constraints.
Two-piece ML variant for deeper open-coast dottera fishing. Matches one-piece ML in load capacity; the 2pc format gives transport flexibility without compromise.
Heavier-duty one-piece model made for open Pacific and Japan Sea with larger dottera loads. MAX 160g/200g dottera; PE to 1.5号. Oversized guides combat jellyfish fouling in offshore conditions.
Lightest model, for shallow-water (to ~50m) vertical tai rubber using ~80g heads. Seto Inland Sea and enclosed bay focus. The supple solid tip allows the gentlest bites to develop into clean hooksets without resistance.
