The Troutino Area (TTA) is Major Craft's dedicated area-trout series made for anglers fishing pay-pond (管理釣り場) trout fisheries in Japan. The intended angler is someone commuting to a managed pond by train or light vehicle, the lineup is based on portability as much as performance. Techniques covered run from sub-1g spoon work through light crankbaits and small plugs, keeping serves firmly in the hatchery-trout column. Blanks are Toray carbon with Fuji KR ring guides and a VSS reel seat.
The key structural split in the range is between standard 2-piece (602, 632 prefixes) and 4-piece pack versions (604, 634, S510 prefixes) that collapse into a semi-hard case. Solid-tip variants (SUL suffix) are tuned for maximum spoon sensitivity and sub-1g lure work; tubular UL tips give more feedback on plugs and carry up to 1/4oz. Action is rated Fast across standard models; the S-prefix (S5102, S622) models carry an Extra Fast designation with a stiffer blank suited to aggressive hook-setting on long-line presentations.
The lineup is entirely spinning, 9 rods across two length clusters, 6'0" and 6'3" 2- and 4-piece standard models, plus a 5'10"–6'2" XF-action sub-group. Power stays in the SUL-L band throughout; lure ceilings top out at 3/16oz on the L-power XF models. Casting rods is absent.
Deeper Dive
A closer look at notable models.
Standard 2-piece solid-tip SUL. Primary spoon rod for the 0.6–3.5g range; solid tip improves bite detection on the lightest spoons and allows controlled slack-line strikes at close range.
4-piece pack version of the 602SUL. Same solid-tip SUL action; collapsible for train commute to the pond. Minor weight penalty versus 2-piece. Ships with a semi-hard case.
Shortest rod in the range with the lightest lure ceiling (3/32oz). XF action and 1–3lb line rating indicate this is specialized for micro-spoons and extremely light retrieves in tight-pool conditions.
Only L-power XF model in the range. The extra backbone handles small plugs and heavier spoons up to 3/16oz while keeping the extra-fast blank for quick hook-sets at distance across a pond.
