UD + series

The Finetail WorksTune UD+ (FSW-UDp) is a compact finesse trout rod based on a UD (unidirectional) fiberglass blank, not carbon, made for area-trout and stream anglers who want a slow-to-moderate, forgiving action that loads deeply on light lures and protects light tippets. The four models in this batch all share UL power and R (Regular) action, making the series irrelevant for anything requiring fast power transfer or distance casting. Primary serves are stocked-pond and mountain-stream trout.

The UD-glass blank is the key feature: unidirectional fiberglass gives a distinctly different feel from high-modulus carbon, softer tip, more progressive bend, dampened vibration. Fuji K-frame SiC-S guides with a Major Craft original spacing reduce line tangle on light line (2–6 lb / PE 0.2–0.6). The series sits within Major Craft's Finetail WorksTune tier, above entry-level Begins but below the flagship Zilk. Two-piece construction with a wooden or high-grade grip depending on variant.

Four rods split evenly between 4'7" and 4'11" lengths, and between spinning (FSW prefix) and casting/baitcasting (FSW-B prefix). All carry identical power (UL), action (R), and line range. The spinning models suit open-face finesse reels; the casting models support bait-finesse setups with small baitcasters common in Japanese area-trout fishing. No length variation beyond the two sizes.
